Removing scratches using sunglasses accessories is a moderately easy job. All you need to do is gather all the things you need such as eyeglass chamois cloth, carnauba wax, metal polish, spray furniture polish, clean dry cloths, and glass etching chemical. So, how do you remove scratches using these common sunglasses accessories?
1. Spread the glass etching material to the front and back surfaces of the lenses. This material helps dissolve any antiglare or anti-scratch without piercing the actual plastic lens. Let the product stay on the lenses for five minutes before you rinse it thoroughly.
2. Using the furniture polish, spray both sides of the lens and begin buffing the lens using a cloth. Furniture polish is considered a mild abrasive. It can help polish and blend out shallow scratches in the plastic. Rinse the lenses and repeat the process if necessary.
3. Pour a small size of metal polish onto a clean cloth and rub it into the plastic lens. Use small circular motions and keep blending and buffing until the scratches are all gone. When the process is complete, rinse the lenses.
4. Directly spread a pea size of Carnauba wax onto the noticeable scratches in your plastic lenses. Press the wax onto the scratch to fill in the scratches. Then, even out the surface of the lens. Polish it to a smooth finish with the use of the eyeglass chamois cloth.
NOTE: Keep in mind that you should never use glass etching products on glass lenses to avoid further damage.
Sunglasses accessories do not only come with chains and cases. Products that help clean and maintain your sunglasses are also considered eyewear accessories. Thus, you also need to have them on hand.
Moreover, these products do not need to be bought for the sole purpose of cleaning your fashion accessories. They can also be used to fix and maintain other items that are made of plastic.
