Difference between Sunglasses for Men and Women

June 20, 2019

One of the many accessories that both men and women can enjoy is sunglasses. Sunglasses are more gender-neutral compared to other pieces of clothing such as pants, underwear, and watches. You can wear men’s sunglasses if you are a woman, and vice versa, without anyone noticing. That is the beauty of these non-gendered accessories. Anyone can wear them and anyone can look good on them.

On the other hand, these sunglasses for men and women do have their own defining characteristics that set them apart from each other. Here are some of them that you should be aware of.

In terms of colours, sunglasses for women usually come in unconventional ones compared to sunglasses for men. This does not mean that men sunglasses come in simple colours, but pink, blue, green, and bright white sunglasses are more common in women sunglasses. Most men prefer neutral or masculine colours such as brown and black.

When you see sunglasses with more designs on them, you instantly think that they are women’s and not men’s. Sunglasses for women usually have leopard prints, polka dots, hearts, and other eye-catching and head-turning patterns. They also include embellishments such as rhinestones and diamonds.

On the other hand, sunglasses for men come in simpler designs and usually in plain colours. However, there are exceptions to the rule. Male fashion patrons, for instance, also wear sunglasses with various designs on them. Simple and timid women also prefer plain sunglasses.

Sunglasses for men usually have smaller frames compared to sunglasses for women. Unlike men, women use sunglasses with large pieces of plastic that make the whole shades bigger. These are better known as oversized sunglasses.

Oversized sunglasses have become famous among fashion patrons and women in high society as they depict a more stylish appeal. On the other hand, the frames on men sunglasses resemble those of the standard eyewear.

The trend of sunglasses for men leans toward wire frames while women sunglasses trend towards plastic frames. This only shows that men sunglasses resemble more of the standard eyewear compared to the less conventional style of women.
